What we do
Project management
Irrigation project management from design to commissioning, so what is built in the paddock matches what was drawn.
Overview
From the design on paper to water in the rows.
We work across the whole irrigation process, from design to the practical side of installation. Our project management team keeps the installation to the design standard and to the program. Ardal's work so far includes 3,500 ha of greenfield developments and 1,500 ha of upgrades and expansions.
Greenfield developments
Bare ground to a working system, with survey, design and project management in one team.
Upgrades and expansions
New blocks and headworks tied into the system already running.
Owners and investors
An independent team on site, working for you.
What we do
What we cover.
Installation to the design standard
We manage the installation in the field so it matches the design and keeps to the program. Questions on site go to the people who surveyed and drew the job.
- Installation coordinated on site
- Work checked against the design
- Progress tracked against the program
- As built data collected as work goes in
Specialist services, parts and fabrication
Some jobs need more than the main contractor. We arrange the specialist services, parts and fabrication the project needs, and fit them into the program.
- Specialist services arranged
- Parts sourced to the specification
- Fabrication to our fabrication breakdown
- Deliveries planned around the work on site
Commissioning
A system is only finished when it runs to the design and works the way your staff need it to. We commission it against the design parameters and your staff's expectations before it is handed over.
- Flows and pressures checked against the design
- Pump station, filtration and fertigation run up
- Automation tested across the blocks
- Staff shown how the system runs
Benchmarking for later checks
At commissioning we record how the system performs, so there is a baseline to check against in later seasons. If performance drops, the benchmark shows where and by how much.
- Baseline flows and pressures recorded
- Pump performance at commissioning
- Benchmark kept for future checks
- A starting point for performance reporting

What you get
A system that runs the way it was designed.
- Contractors managed to the specification
- Installation checked against the design
- Progress tracked against the program
- Specialist services, parts and fabrication arranged
- Commissioning to design parameters
- Performance benchmark at handover
- As built data for the finished system
Questions
Project management, answered.
What is an irrigation project?
An irrigation project is any job that plans, builds or changes an irrigation system, from a new orchard on bare ground to a pump station upgrade. On a full development the stages usually run: feasibility, survey, farm design, irrigation and earthworks design, tender, installation, commissioning, then ongoing support. We work across all of those stages and can manage the whole path or only the stages you need.
What does an irrigation project manager do?
They make sure the system that goes in the ground is the system that was designed. That means managing contractors on site, keeping the work to the design standard and the program, arranging specialist services, parts and fabrication, and commissioning the finished system.
What happens at commissioning?
We run the system and check it against the design: flows, pressures, the pump station, filtration, fertigation and automation. We also check it works the way your staff expect. The results become the benchmark for checking performance in later seasons.
Do you manage upgrades as well as new developments?
Yes, both. On an upgrade or expansion we survey the existing system first, so the new work ties in with what is already there.
How much does project management cost?
It's priced on application. What drives the price: the size of the project, how long it runs, how much time on site it needs, how many contractors and specialist services are involved, and travel. Send the details and we'll come back with a scope and a price.
