Where we work

Irrigation design, surveys and land forming in Queensland

RTK surveys, land forming design and cut and fill machine files for Queensland growers, with travel from Mildura quoted up front.

Overview

Survey, design and machine files from one team.

The team travels from Mildura. Survey and design sit in the same team, so the data collected on your field goes straight into the design and the machine files.

Burdekin

The Burdekin region in north Queensland.

Central Highlands

Emerald and the country around it.

Maranoa and Western Downs

Roma, Injune, Wandoan and Dalby.

Services

What we do here.

RTK surveys to 2 cm

Our feature and contour surveys are done to RTK 2 cm, the level of detail a land forming design needs. On large areas, drone photogrammetry adds a surface model of the whole field.

  • Feature and contour surveys
  • Drone orthomosaics and surface models
  • Existing channels, drains and structures
  • Staking for pipelines and structures

Land forming design

On a furrow irrigated field, the grade decides how evenly the water runs and how well it drains off. We design the levelling, the drains and the cut and fill to suit the field, ready for laser levelling or GPS machine control.

  • Field levelling design for row crops
  • Surface drain design
  • Slope and catchment analysis
  • Cut and fill estimates for quoting

Machine files and laser bucket work

We produce machine files for the contractor's control system, including Trimble, T3rraCutta, Ezigrade and Topcon Civil. We can also manage the laser buckets on site, so the finished field matches the design.

  • Machine files for Trimble and T3rraCutta
  • Ezigrade and Topcon Civil files
  • Laser bucket work managed on site
  • As built survey when the work is done

Storages, pumps and irrigation design

We model dams and storages, measure their real capacity with the survey boat, and design the pumps and networks that move the water. Pivot, sprinkler and drip systems are specified regardless of brand.

  • Dam and storage modelling
  • Bathymetric surveys of storages
  • Pump station design and specification
  • Pivot, sprinkler and drip design

Questions

Queensland, answered.

Do you work in Queensland?

Yes. We work in the Burdekin region, around Emerald, and around Roma, Injune, Wandoan and Dalby. We have cotton work under way in Queensland. Ardal has no Queensland office, so the team comes from Mildura.

Do you charge travel to Queensland?

Travel is quoted up front, so you see it before the team leaves Mildura. It depends on the location, how many trips the job needs and how long the team is on site. Send the details and we'll come back with a scope and a price.

What is land forming?

Land forming is reshaping a field to a designed grade, so water spreads evenly and drains off. It starts with a survey of the ground, then a design that balances cut and fill, then machine files that guide the earthmoving gear. Laser levelling is one way the design is built on the ground.

Can you make machine files for my contractor?

Yes. We produce cut and fill machine files for Trimble, T3rraCutta, Ezigrade, Topcon Civil and other control systems. Tell us what gear your contractor runs and the files are set up for it.

How is cotton irrigated in Queensland?

Most irrigated cotton, in Queensland as elsewhere in Australia, is furrow irrigated: water runs down the rows from a supply channel and drains off the tail end. Some is grown under centre pivots, lateral moves or drip. On furrow fields, an even grade is what gets water to the end of the row and off again, which is why the survey and land forming design come first.

Planning land forming or a new development?

Send the property location, the area and what you plan to grow. Nick, Matt or Aaron will call you back with a scope and a price, with travel included.
