Where we work

Riverland irrigation design, surveying and support

Independent design, surveys, automation and system reviews for growers around Renmark, Berri, Loxton and Waikerie, run from Mildura.

Overview

Specified for the block, not a brand.

The Riverland's vineyards, citrus and almond orchards run on water pumped from the River Murray. Ardal works here from Mildura, with engineers and designers who specify pumps, filtration and field systems on what suits the block, regardless of brand.

Redeveloping

Replacing an old system or replanting a block, designed around the crop going in.

Surveying

Drone, RTK and survey boat data for blocks, river pump sites and storages.

Operating

Automation support, system reviews and reports once the water is on.

Services

What we do here.

Independent design

We design drip and sprinkler systems, pump stations, filtration and fertigation, modelled in IRRICAD. Everything is specified on what suits the block and the budget, regardless of brand.

  • Drip and sprinkler field design
  • Pump station design and specification
  • Filtration and fertigation design
  • Fabrication breakdown for installers

Redevelopment and upgrades

When a block is replanted or a system is replaced, we map what is already there, work out what can be kept, and design the upgrade to meet the new crop's peak demand.

  • Mapping of existing systems and networks
  • What can be reused and what cannot
  • Design for peak crop demand
  • Efficient power use over the long term

River pump sites and storages

Our survey boat maps the beds of rivers, channels and on farm storages with RTK precision. You get the measured depth at the intake, not an estimate.

  • Depth at the intake and pump suction
  • Silt build up
  • Real storage capacity
  • Inputs for pump and storage upgrades

Drone mapping of blocks

RTK drones map whole blocks for design, and multispectral imagery shows plant stress and irrigation faults before they are obvious on the ground.

  • Orthomosaics and 3D surface models
  • Multispectral maps by block
  • Plant stress and variability
  • Repeat flights season to season

Automation and system reviews

We supply, install and service Motorola IRRInet and WiseConn automation. System reviews and performance reports show whether the system is doing what it was designed to do.

  • IRRInet and WiseConn support
  • System checks and auditing
  • Pressure maps showing weak spots
  • Flow meter and water use reports

Questions

The Riverland, answered.

Do you work in the Riverland?

Yes. We work across the Riverland, around Renmark, Berri, Loxton and Waikerie, from our office in Mildura. The work covers design, surveys, automation and system reviews.

Are you independent of irrigation suppliers?

Yes. Our designs are specified on what suits the block and the crop, regardless of brand. We do supply and install automation gear, including Motorola IRRInet and WiseConn.

Should I upgrade or replace an old irrigation system?

It depends on what the existing pumps, mains and field system can still deliver against the crop's peak demand. We map and assess what is there, then set out the options: what can be kept, what needs replacing, and the budget for each.

Can you measure the water depth at my river pump?

Yes. Our survey boat maps the river bed around the intake with RTK precision, so you know the depth at the pump suction. The same survey works for channels and on farm storages, where it also shows silt build up and real capacity.

What crops do you work with in the Riverland?

We work with vineyards, citrus and almonds, the Riverland's main irrigated crops, and with olives. Each crop has a different peak water demand, and that sets the size of the pumps, mains and filtration.

Do you charge travel to the Riverland?

Travel is quoted up front. The team comes from Mildura, so the cost depends on where the property is and how many visits the job needs. Send the location and what you are planning, and we'll come back with a scope and a price.
